The Franklin Southampton region is prepared and poised for business expansion. The area provides all the appropriate utilities and communications infrastructure to meet the needs of any sized business.


The City of Franklin and Southampton County are primarily serviced by two major electric providers, Dominion Virginia Power and Franklin Municipal Power & Light. Some rural sections of Southampton County operate through smaller community electric cooperatives.

Natural Gas

Columbia Gas of VirginiaColumbia Gas of Virginia
Natural gas is provided by Columbia Gas of Virginia and is available at the Southampton Business Park. Plans are in the works to extend the service east on U.S. 58 to service other industrial users and Southampton Commerce & Logistics Center. Water & Sewer

Both the City of Franklin and Southampton County provide water and sewer service to commercial and residential areas as well as their industrial parks. Southampton County recently constructed a new $30 million water reclamation facility with a capacity of 1.25 million gallons per day.
